Since January 1st 2009 Nic Wilson has been funded by Science Foundation Ireland as Principal Investigator on a project on reasoning with preferences in multi-variate problems; he is also collaborating with IBM on a project on reasoning about risk, and is involved in the SFI SRC project ITOBO on intelligent building operation. Nic Wilson has been a research scientist at Cork Constraint Computation Centre since October 2003. His interests include computational approaches for reasoning with preferences, soft constraints and uncertainty. From 2001-2003, he was a senior research fellow at Keele University UK, working primarily on formal approaches for representing and reasoning with uncertain geographic information. Before that he was a senior research fellow at Oxford Brookes University, UK, and a research fellow at Queen Mary and Westfield College, London. During this time he worked mainly on computation and foundations of numerical and logical uncertainty formalisms. He chaired workshops at ECAI in 2006 and 2008 on reasoning with graphical structures of knowledge. He has been on the programme committees of many AI and uncertainty conferences and workshops, such as AAAI, UAI, SUM, ISIPTA, was an area chair for ECAI 2010, and was on the senior programme committee of IJCAI-11.
