PhD, MSc Computer Science, Delft University of Technology

Roman van der Krogt

Roman van der Krogt joined 4C as a post-doctoral researcher on July 1, 2005. After working on the PDES project, Roman is now an IRCSET Post-Doctoral Research Fellow working in the field of multi-agent dynamic planning.
Before coming to 4C, Roman completed his Master's degree in Computer Science at Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands, in the area of parallel and distributed systems. After that, he worked as a Ph.D. student at that same university on plan repair in single-agent and multi-agent systems. His Ph.D. work resulted in one journal article, a number of articles in well-known conferences (e.g. ICAPS'05 and the IEEE/WIC IAT'03 conference, where his work was nominated for best paper), and a range of articles in workshops and national conferences (including an additional nomination for best paper award). Other articles are currently under revision.
His research interests include distributed (agent-based) problem solving, in particular for dynamic problems. More specifically, he is interested in fault-tolerance and robustness on the one hand, and recovery from failures on the other. Furthermore, the application of constraint-based reasoning techniques on planning (and vice versa) and the application of Artificial Intelligence in general on (computer) games have his interest.
