Radoslaw Szymanek

PhD, Lic, MSc

Radoslaw Szymanek

Radoslaw Szymanek has obtained the following degrees in Computer Science: PhD and Licentiate from Lund University (Sweden), Master of Science with distinction from the Technical University of Gdansk (Poland), and at the age of eighteen an Engineering Degree from the Academy of Computer Science and Management in Bielsko-Biala (Poland).

Radoslaw has previously worked at three universities and one world-class research institute. Currently, he is a research scientist at Cork Constraint Computation Centre (Ireland). In addition, he has taught at universities both in Sweden and Poland. He was recently invited to give a course for PhD students at a Swedish university. Moreover, Radoslaw is a co-author of a Java based Constraint Programming solver that has been used by a number of research groups worldwide, including Los Alamos in USA. Throughout his academic career Radoslaw has succeeded in receiving a number of scholarships; for example, a Marie Curie Fellowship grant to support his work at the IMEC research institute.

His main research aim is to make Constraint Programming easier to use by experts in other domains. In a number of articles, he has presented possible applications of Constraint Programming in Design Automation of Embedded Systems. Radoslaw is actively involved in this interdisciplinary research, and has several publications in top international conferences. Moreover, he has served as program committee member in the First International Constraint Satisfaction Solver Competition and First International Workshop on Constraints and Design. He has also reviewed papers in IEEE 2005 3rd Workshop on Embedded Systems for Real-Time Multimedia.
