Walter O'Grady

Walter O'Grady

Walter graduated from the University College Cork (UCC) in 2003 with a BE (Civil) First Class Honours Degree. He worked on his PhD on Comfort Knowledge Management with the Informatics Research Unit for Sustainable Engineering (IRUSE), UCC from 2003 to 2006. He worked as a researcher in the Airflow and Pollutant Transport Group, Environmental Energy Technologies Division, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in Berkeley, California, USA from 2005 to 2006. For three years he was a Project Manager and Design Engineer on projects up to a value of ?400million for Pharmaceutical, Commercial, Industrial, Institutional and Infrastructural Clients. He returned as a Research Engineer to IRUSE for two years and acted as a Technical Advisor, System Designer and Project Manager with the ITOBO Cluster. ITOBO is a ?7million, SFI-funded Strategic Research Cluster focusing on using ICT for the operation of sustainable smart buildings. He is currently a Post-Doctoral Researcher with 4C and primarily works with ITOBO. His main research interests include Smart Building System Design, Building Knowledge Management, Occupant Comfort, and Building Modelling and Optimisation.
