Discover how 4C helped Bausch and Lomb Optimise their Manufacturing Design|
Bausch and Lomb manufacture a large range of contact lenses using a combination of moulding and casting machines. Each machine can process a certain amount of lenses in a certain time period. What Bausch and Lomb management wanted to understand was the relationship between new proposed changes to their buffer stock holding policy and the impact to their schedules. Given the versatility of the machines and the unpredicatability of the future demand, this makes exploring future scheduling options computationally prohibitive using conventional methods.
The video clips shown here describe how the research carried out by 4C, based on Constraint Programming technology, was able to find a solution to their problem.
